I left Panama on my adventure , heading only afew short miles to isla Taboga. but still a great moment, one i have been waiting for, for years. the feeling of sailing away, not turning back, not needing to sail back the same day. the end of the panama bay daysailor, the dawn of the hopefull blue water cruiser and sailor. maybe onday joining the circle of the circumnavigators.
the trip to taboga was uneventfull, the boating being heavly over loaded with stuff felt liek ailing a world war 2 duck, but golly not tossing around like a corck is kinda nice.
anchored in the bay and watched a beautifull sunset.

cruising speeds, 5kn under sail, 4.5- 5.0 under power.
Cutter rig, with two main head stays. (as of late one of them roller furling.)
My ship is a real one of a kind boat.
I have built 95% of the boat, and all of it to my own designs and ideas.
The hull was originally a Cal 29. I found her as a wreck at the Balboa Yacht Club in Panama.
I spent over three years re-building absolutely every thing! every rib, stringer, bulhead, nothing but two pieces of wood are original. I designed her rib, and stringer system, as well as every thing else, down to the smallest detail - a bottle openner in the galley. 95% of all the work I did myself.
The boat has a new rig,a taller mast,over sized rigging (3/8 spliced stainless steel), tabernackle. the boat was also re- powered with an old Yanmar 2gm20.
the boat carries in three seperate fixed tanks 80 gallons of diesel, and in drums stored around the boat, a total of about 120 gallons. I get about twenty miles to the gallon.
the boat is wheel steered.
the boat also has a solid stainless steel rail that wraps around the whole boat, bow sprit and all. I have a stainless arch over the stern, mounted on the arch are two solar panels, radar, and gps, vhf, sat antenas.
That is the basics of my boat.
